These two tools are all you need to help with budgeting and even overall financial planning!

Here we go!

Let’s welcome Personal Capital and EveryDollar as the best FREE household budgeting apps and online financial tools!

Personal Capital EveryDollar Free Budgeting Apps

If you’re looking for the best platform to show all of your financials in the same place, then Personal Capital is the way to go. Or if you’re wanting a true budgeting platform and you’re willing to manually add transactions, Every Dollar is free as well. Now let’s break it down and see the benefits of each of these tools.

First up — Personal Capital as the top free household budgeting app!

Personal Capital is seriously the most amazing all-in-one financial tool. The really cool thing about Personal Capital is that it actually links to your bank account (and credit card, retirement, investment accounts, etc.) FOR FREE!

After you link your accounts, your Personal Capital dashboard shows your net worth, budgeting, cash flow, and investment analysis all on one page. It tracks your net worth and that includes your investment accounts. so it’s very convenient to just login and look at it all on one page.

Of course, you can take a deep dive into each one of those financial areas displayed on the home page. And I would highly recommend this every so often!  There’s no better way to constantly improve your financial picture than by consistently reviewing what’s going on in a very detailed way!

One thing that many Personal Capital users love — especially my husband — is that since it links to your bank account, it pulls your transactions as they clear your bank, and it categorizes them for you. So it can serve as your complete budgeting system, yet stay pretty hands off.

By the way, Personal Capital frequently offers a generous referral bonus (up to $50 so far!!) to my friends who sign up for the very first time. Before you sign up, check out the Penny Steward Mama Facebook page or email me at pennystewardmama@gmail.com for details.

Next up — EveryDollar as my personal favorite free budgeting tool

I know so many people prefer “hands off” when it comes to their budgeting, but…I highly recommend a more proactive budgeting approach. “Hands off” leaves you less intentional about your money and you achieve your financial priorities much more slowly.

So this is where Dave Ramsey’s EveryDollar comes in. For the free version, you do have to enter everything manually. But this has huge benefits!

I have found that it is very simple and not very time-consuming to enter transactions manually AS YOU SPEND your money — or at least enter all your transactions by the end of each day.

This process keeps you MUCH more mindful of your money and allows you to make the best financial decisions throughout your day-to-day life. This habit, more than anything else, will improve your overall financial picture immensely!

Besides, if you do decide you would prefer bank connectivity and more automation over manual entries, then you can choose to pay the low monthly or yearly fee for this option.

Whether you choose to use the free option or bank connectivity option, EveryDollar is a fabulous tool where you can keep your budget organized by categories!
