Hi! Welcome to my blog! I’m Heather, the Penny Steward Mama. I am so excited to begin sharing my enthusiasm about personal finance with you!
Wait. Don’t quit reading yet. I know…personal finance. Blah. That’s the last thing you want to spend your limited free time reading about.
But bear with me! I have high hopes for you and your money!
Whether you’ve never been good with money or you are here looking for some tips to manage your money just a little bit better, you are in the right place!
I want to help support you and encourage you to take control of your money so it doesn’t have control over you.
Yes, that’s right. I did say you could have control over your money. Stick with me, and we are going to do this together!
Allow me to introduce myself. I have been married almost 13 years and have three little boys, ages 5 and under. When my husband and I married, we still had 3 years of college remaining.
Though we had a very small income at the time, we were determined to live frugally and finish college with as little student loan debt as possible. We knew it could possibly hold us back from our future dreams!
Well, we made it! After graduation, we moved into a small two-bedroom apartment–certainly not the expected living quarters for two college grads. It then took us a year to pay off those student loans. After that, things became MUCH more fun!
We became a real-life example of what it looks like to live debt-free (except our newly obtained mortgage on our starter home.) We had paid off our second car just before graduation the year prior, so we no longer had a car payment or student loan payment. Free, indeed!
I cannot describe what a wonderful feeling it is NOT to owe anyone. The air seems clearer, the sun brighter, the car drives better and breaks down less, and best of all, we have options to live our life without our money (or lack thereof) making the decisions for us. That student loan that was supposed to be paid off in 30 years is NOT holding us back from chasing our dreams!
My ultimate goal is for YOU to know this feeling! If you are not yet debt-free, let’s dig in together and make it happen. If you are debt-free, I would love for us to keep each other accountable in staying that way! Either way, I want to hear all about your future goals and plans!
Thanks for reading! Stay tuned so, together, we can steward our money intentionally!
